The INSIGHT Project aims to tackle the inefficiencies in assessing the safety and sustainability of chemicals and materials. Current methods rely on fragmented data, unintegrated models, and complex decision-making, making it difficult for industries and regulators to develop safer, more sustainable solutions.
Key Challenges
- Lack of a unified framework: existing tools are disconnected, making assessments unreliable.
- Slow and ineffective decision-making: industries and regulators struggle to access clear, integrated insights.
- Limited use of AI and digitalization: advanced technologies are underutilized in risk assessment.
- Challenges in adopting Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD): there is no structured approach for early-stage material design.
A Smarter, Integrated Solution
INSIGHT introduces a multi-layered framework that links data, models, and impact assessment tools to deliver a holistic, science-driven approach to material and chemical evaluation.
A key innovation is our interactive decision-support system, featuring customizable decision maps that guide users through the SSbD process. These maps will shape the project’s user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI), offering a seamless experience tailored to different stakeholders.
To enhance collaboration and accessibility, INSIGHT will provide a secure, cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, enabling users to share data, integrate workflows, and make informed decisions with greater ease.
Transforming Chemical and Material Assessment
INSIGHT is bridging the gap between science, industry, and policy by:
- Developing an integrated computational platform for impact assessment.
- Providing curated, FAIR data and predictive models to support SSbD.
- Offering clear, interactive decision maps to assist stakeholders.
- Ensuring regulatory alignment and collaboration with global initiatives.
- Validating the framework through real-world case studies.
By driving innovation and digitalization, INSIGHT is paving the way for a safer, more sustainable future.
